ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lancaster County's Conestoga River was voted Pennsylvania River of the Year for 2026 after receiving 2,510 votes online, and the river club will receive a $15,000 leadership grant to fund year-long celebrations (including a commemorative poster) honoring its restoration. FOX43
- ➤ The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection invested over $17 million in 89 conservation projects to restore streams and reclaim mine lands statewide. In Lancaster, Warwick Township received a $170,000 grant for a Cocalico Creek tributary restoration under the Growing Greener program. WGAL
- ➤ The Pa. Fish and Boat Commission released the 2026 trout stocking schedule with volunteer operations starting Feb. 16 and opening day on Saturday, April 4. Anglers will see 3.2 million trout stocked in 684 streams and 130 lakes statewide, with fishing restrictions in designated waters until opening day. FOX43
