  • Lancaster County-based Taylor Chip announced plans to close its two Philadelphia locations and file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (to protect the brand's future) as permit delays led to mounting debt.  Local 21 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Field of Screams presents its 'My Bloody Valentine' event Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14 with live music, actors, themed attractions, and free hot chocolate at the park; guests should dress warmly and arrive by 9 p.m. to tour the attractions + enjoy the festive offerings.  FOX43

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School leaders in Eastern Lancaster County School District plan to merge three elementary schools into one to save money; the plan would serve about 1,000 students from townships and boroughs, though the superintendent said no board vote is scheduled and some parents worry about longer bus rides + crowded classrooms.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers are asking the White House to extend passport services past Friday after the State Department ruled against the practice. The Lancaster Public Library—averaging 10-12 passports daily and contributing over $60,000 to its budget—is concerned the loss may force cuts to essential programs.  WGAL
  • Drivers using Route 30 will face lane restrictions for an inspection of the Wrights Ferry bridge from Feb. 18-20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Officials will test the bridge's safety between Columbia and Hellam Township.  PennLive
  • Attorney General Dave Sunday warned veterans during National Salute to Veteran Patients Week (today) to avoid claim predators who charge high fees and pressure them into signing unfavorable contracts for VA benefit claims. Veterans can verify representatives by checking the VA’s accreditation search tool.  WGAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • USDA (it monitors local outbreaks) reported that over 60,000 birds at two Lancaster County commercial meat production farms were affected by Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, adding to over 2.3 million birds affected this year. The agency now requires mandatory virus testing at all commercial poultry farms in the county.  FOX43

  • Lancaster native Winter Olympian Jasmine Jones launched a GoFundMe campaign (to cover travel and lodging) so her mother can attend the two-woman bobsled event starting Feb. 20 at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina; she trains in Lake Placid and represents Team USA.  Daily Voice
