The Lancaster Public Library will reopen its second floor Monday after a sewage backup flooded part of the building—environmental groups filed a petition Friday to stop a $2.3 billion hydroelectric project that would flood 580 acres in York County as local scholastic awards set a record with over 1,100 entries from 26 schools. - ➤ Severe storms past Sunday caused significant damage in Lancaster and nearby areas — in Lancaster, high winds ripped the roof off a home at High Street and Prospect Street and two trees in Manor Township blocked roads and hit power lines, while in Franklin a tree struck a home on Country Road and in York hail damaged decks, cars, and sidewalks. - ➤ State Police are searching Lancaster County for Alexander Neff, 42, who was last seen leaving his Holtwood Road home in Martic Township on March 11 at 7 p.m.—he is five foot seven, about 170 lbs with brown hair, blue eyes and a scar on his head while wearing a brown Carhartt jacket and tends to stare and not talk, a sign of his schizophrenia. - ➤ Authorities are investigating the death of 26-year-old inmate Chaz Lowery after he was found unresponsive in his cell at Lancaster County Prison at 6:30 a.m. Saturday—staff attempted life-saving measures, and initial findings suggest his death was a medical incident. FOX43
