ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday morning, a child was hit by a vehicle at 7:33 a.m. on the 700-block of South Fourth Street near Middle School Drive in Denver Borough close to Denver Elementary School and Cocalico Middle School, and the child was taken to hospital while police investigate and the vehicle remained at the scene.  WGAL

CRIME NEWS

  • A 31-year-old man was charged with abuse of a corpse after police found his 61-year-old mother's body in her SUV outside a home in Penn Township — officials ruled her death a homicide caused by strangulation.  Daily Voice
  • U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will issue a detainer for 32-year-old Youshimatz Alegria-Diaz—a Coatesville man pulled over on March 22 on Route 30 east for not using his turn signal who was later found to have an active Interpol warrant for homicide and charged as a fugitive from justice while held in Lancaster County Prison.  Local 21 News
  • A routine traffic stop on Route 30 in Manheim Township led police to arrest 32-year-old Youshimatz Alegria Diaz from Coatesville when his Mexican driver’s license revealed an active Interpol warrant for homicide—ICE confirmed they would issue a detainer and he was taken into custody and committed to Lancaster County Prison.  FOX43

CULTURE NEWS

  • Brave the Dark is on the silver screen after years in the making and tells the story of Nate Deen, a local youth helped by his caring teacher. It opened in theaters January 24 and was made by Angel Studios & MAKE/FILMS studios using scenes shot in Lancaster & New Holland.  Local 21 News

  • The Senate Transportation Committee approved a bill that will require school bus drivers to stop 15 ft away from bus stops to boost safety, and City Council members heard calls for an independent review of a recent bicyclist arrest—residents requested access to records on past use-of-force cases. In addition, Penn Medicine announced job cuts affecting Lancaster General Health employees while a new Chili’s themed after The Office is set to open in Dickson City.  One United Lancaster

  • Prime Anesthesia Associates joined Penn State Health on March 24th. The group had three doctors and two nurse anesthetists, and the health system hired one full time and six part time nurse anesthetists.  PennLive
