ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Tony Eckinger, a Lancaster County resident, was critically injured on Sunday when his electric bike collided with a car while he was crossing a street—he suffered a broken arm, fractured jaw, and head injuries that led to ICU treatment while his family demands more transparency in the investigation.  Local 21 News
  • Rescue crews responded to a water emergency in Manor Township when they were called to the Susquehanna River around 8:45 a.m.—no further details were released.  WGAL
  • Rescue crews freed a trapped person from a car after a crash in Lancaster County early Monday morning—first responders arrived at 2:29 a.m. on Mapleshade Road in Colerain Township, stabilized the vehicle, and freed the individual within five minutes although the person's condition remains unknown.  WGAL

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday, Lancaster police arrested 32-year-old Mohammad Abdul Rashid after he flagged down officers and stabbed two men outside the Lancaster Islamic Center on North Queen Street around 9:15 a.m.; both victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and Rashid faces charges—attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possessing an instrument of a crime.  WGAL
  • Police arrested Abdul Rashid (32) for attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possessing instruments of crime after a double stabbing outside the Lancaster Islamic Center on the (200 block of North Queen Street) on March 30th at 9:15 a.m., where two adult men sustained non-life-threatening injuries from an argument and authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.  Daily Voice

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Department of Human Services and the Office of State Inspector General urged SNAP recipients to change their EBT card PIN every month to help prevent benefits theft. They advised users to inspect card readers for skimming devices—reporting any suspicious findings to local law enforcement immediately.  WGAL
  • The US Postal Inspection Service warned Lancaster residents on March 31 that scammers sent fake texts claiming package delays or pending payments — these messages try to steal personal information by urging recipients to click on suspicious links, and officials advised not clicking on them and reporting any unusual texts.  Daily Voice
