ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 12-year-old boy from East Hempfield Township died Sunday when a tree fell on him at a backyard zipline, police said the incident was a tragic accident.  PennLive
  • On March 23 at 10:52 p.m., an e-bike rider was seriously injured in a collision at the intersection of Howard Avenue and South Lime Street in Lancaster after failing to stop at a stop sign, police said.  WGAL
  • A crash on Route 283 near the Esbenshade Road exit in Rapho Township at 7:30 a.m. caused heavy backup on the eastbound lanes—officials say it remains unclear how many vehicles were involved or if any injuries occurred.  WGAL
  • An SUV went over an embankment and crashed into a mud bog in Warwick Township at 8:32 a.m. on Thursday morning — crews freed the driver who reported minor injuries and was treated by local EMS — with Weaver's Towing and Recovery removing the vehicle.  WGAL

CRIME NEWS

  • A retired PSP trooper testified on Thursday that he accused Jere Bagenstose of killing his estranged wife Maryann in 1984 after recounting tense conversations with him on May 13, 1993—at his West Willow Street home—and on Feb. 22, 1995 at his workplace.  WGAL
  • James Steffy of West Nottingham Township was sentenced on March 26 to 14-28 years in prison for a months-long crime spree in Lancaster that ended in January 2021—when a stolen vehicle crashed head-on on the 900 block of Rohrerstown Road in East Hempfield Township.  Local 21 News
