COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Archie, a 4-year-old Vizsla, returned home in Akron (Lancaster County) after 15 days on the run from being spooked by a smoke alarm on Feb. 27; he lost 15 pounds while traveling over 30 miles, thanks to a vigorous community search.  WGAL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Two family-owned Italian restaurants in Elizabethtown will close today after 20 years at 50 Veterans Drive. Pizzatown (11 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.) and Ferrarelli House of Wine (4 to 10 p.m.) invite guests for a final visit.  Local 21 News
  • Brad Reese (grandson of H. B. Reese) criticized Hershey's plan to restore classic recipes and phase out artificial colors. The company said changes affecting less than 3% of its products began in summer 2025 and will be completed by 2027.  Daily Voice

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Red Rose Transit Authority marked its 50th anniversary on Wednesday, Apr. 1, with a bus ride for local leaders in Lancaster. Officials noted rising fuel prices + plans for new state funding could affect future service.  FOX43
  • The Public Utility Commission held two call-in hearings Friday, April 3, to review UGI's proposal to raise natural gas service rates from about $113 to roughly $123. Additional hearings are scheduled for Thursday, April 9, and a final decision will come by Oct. 29.  WGAL
  • The U.S. Forest Service announced it will move its headquarters from Washington, D.C. to Salt Lake City, Utah and will close research and development facilities in Pennsylvania (York, Irvine, Long Pond and Williamsport) as part of its reorganization.  WGAL

  • Gardening experts advise local residents to plant hardy vegetables & flowers today while delaying tender summer crops until around Mother’s Day when frost risk drops. They recommend using a kitchen thermometer to check soil temperature and waiting if the soil feels overly wet.  FOX43
