COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Parishioners at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Orange Street in Lancaster are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser to pay for needed repairs on the church’s first floor. Led by veteran fundraiser Patty Myer, the event will serve more than 700 handmade meatballs and pasta on April 6th from noon to three — the meal is open for both dine-in and takeout.  WGAL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities called the Lancaster County Coroner at 10:05 a.m. near Holtwood Dam on Thursday morning and identified the body as 42-year-old Alexander Neff, a man reported missing on March 11 whose death was ruled an accidental fresh water drowning.  Local 21 News
  • An early morning crash shut down all lanes of Route 30 between Mcilvaine and Hoover roads near Church Street in Paradise Township at 12:45 a.m. on Friday—PennDOT said drivers should use alternate routes while Pennsylvania State Police investigate.  WGAL
  • On March 23 at 10:52 p.m. on Howard Avenue, an e-bike rider who did not slow down at a stop sign collided with a car from S. Lime Street and was seriously injured+ he was cited for traffic violations and taken to a local hospital as police urge riders to follow safety rules.  FOX43

CRIME NEWS

  • Raymond Shade Jr.—a 49-year-old Lancaster man—was sentenced to 15-30 years for breaking into an East Hempfield Township home in October 2022 and threatening a victim with a modified shotgun while carrying knives, a sword and nunchucks.  PennLive
  • Raymond Shade Jr., 49, of Lancaster City, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years on March 26 after a July trial for breaking into a home in East Hempfield Township on October 29th and threatening the resident with a modified sawed-off shotgun — police said.  WGAL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Resurrection Catholic School will close at the end of the school year due to low enrollment and needed building repairs — the three supporting parishes will combine resources to continue Catholic education and help families and staff transition to other schools.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting May 7, residents will need a Real ID to board domestic flights or access certain federal facilities, or they must use a passport. Residents must bring original or certified documents proving their full legal name, date of birth, lawful status, Social Security number, and two proofs of address (like a bank statement or utility bill).  WGAL
