EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The School District of Lancaster detailed a nearly $10 million deficit and a looming $27.5 million shortfall by 2027 at Tuesday night’s forum. Officials proposed staff and program cuts (and potential furloughs) and are now inviting community feedback as they plan to adopt the final budget in May. FOX43
- ➤ The School District of Lancaster school board addressed a $10 million budget deficit and proposed options to avoid furloughs for over 100 employees on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Lincoln Middle School. WGAL
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The National Weather Service warned that sensitive crops and vegetation in south-central PA faced damage during a freeze warning from midnight until 9 a.m. today and issued a freeze watch for Thursday morning (residents are urged to cover plants or move them indoors). WGAL
- ➤ Hummingbirds are set to begin their annual migration to Pennsylvania as warmer weather unfolds. Ruby-throated species will travel north from winter grounds later this month and wildlife experts advise residents to put out sugar-water feeders to help the tiny travelers. Local 21 News
- ➤ Firefighters with Alliance Fire Rescue rescued five baby foxes from a drainage pipe Monday after four hours of work, though one kit did not survive. The surviving foxes will be returned to their family once they are confirmed healthy with help from Raven Ridge Wildlife Center. Local 21 News

- ➤ Attorney General Dave Sunday warned Pennsylvanians today that scammers use deepfake technology and deceptive ads on Meta platforms - including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp - to lure investors into pump-and-dump and confidence scams. - ➤ East Hempfield Township says a sinkhole has closed Stony Battery Road between Kauffman Road and Church Street near Links Ave and Snapper Dam Rd, and repairs are expected to take two to three days. Residents can reach the road's ends and nearby side streets during this period. Local 21 News
