  • Faith Friendship Villa will remain open for one more year as leaders work to secure sustainable funding and partnerships after reversing its closure decision on Friday + the care facility continues normal operations while efforts intensify to build a long-term future.  FOX43

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighter-EMT Kevin Brehm, 60, who served over 40 years with Dover Area Ambulance and Northeast Adams Fire & EMS, died after a Friday medical emergency at his station and hospital on April 10, with local emergency crews honoring him in a procession.  Daily Voice

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Robert Fulton Elementary School are learning science, health, and environmental lessons in an outdoor garden created by The Edible Classroom & a local non-profit. The program lets every student grow and cook food, building teamwork and healthy habits.  FOX43
  • A fourth-grade class at Washington Elementary is exploring space travel and the Artemis II mission in lively discussions led by Ms. Hagel. Students ask questions and share dreams of working for NASA while uncovering mysteries (like new galaxies) during their engaging lessons.  WGAL

  • A falling backdrop nearly hit Gov. Shapiro and costumed Revolutionary War reenactors during an event where he announced the Commonwealth Concert Series for America250 celebration — state officials confirmed no one was hurt.  Local 21 News
  • Temporary 40-ton weight restrictions will be in effect on the Dillerville Road bridges for railroad work from Monday, Apr. 13 through Thursday, Apr. 30 — the bridges span Norfolk Southern tracks between Harrisburg Pike and Garfield Avenue. HEALTH NEWS

  • Columbia police are offering mosquito prevention tips to residents this spring. The advice includes draining standing water, wearing loose clothing, and using EPA-approved repellents to avoid dangerous bites.  Local 21 News
