  • Lancaster community members held a memorial service on Saturday to honor over 200 victims who died when a nightclub roof collapsed during a concert in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday — organizers read each victim’s name and offered support to grieving families.  WGAL
  • Local churches and bakeries say rising chocolate prices are making it cost more to make peanut butter Easter eggs for community fundraisers. Elle Daniels of Wake & Bake Cafe and Father Tim Sahd of Seven Sorrows Church said higher costs on chocolate mean lower profits but they will keep making the treats.  Local 21 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday at 10:20 p.m., a vehicle rolled into a creek off the 600 block of Martic Heights Drive in Lancaster—authorities removed the entrapped person and EMS continued working on scene with no roads closed.  WGAL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Evergreen Golf Course, a family-owned course in Manheim that operated for 60 years, will close due to sinkhole damage and a legal dispute with Pennsy Supply over a quarry’s role in the damage. The course is set to close permanently on April 30 — the Department of Environmental Protection holds the quarry responsible while Pennsy Supply denies involvement.  Local 21 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Dillsburg resident Waylon Wilcox, 45, pleaded guilty on April 9 to filing false tax returns after he hid over $13 million in CryptoPunks NFT sales by failing to report 97 transactions—his girlfriend posted on social media to request donations for her daughter's pageant costs.  Daily Voice
  • Lancaster police investigated two shootings on Friday night—one on the 200 block of Coral Street where a car was hit by gunfire and another on the 600 block of North Queen Street near a hospital with shell casings recovered—and both cases remain under investigation.  Local 21 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Good Friday is recognized as a state holiday in only 12 states, but Pennsylvania does not observe it, and locals are urging lawmakers to change that—state Senator Doug Mastriano is pushing to reaffirm a law from 1893 that would grant the day official holiday status. Residents believe it would provide needed travel time for those celebrating Easter on Sunday.  Local 21 News

  • WalletHub released its 2025 report on April 8, ranking Pennsylvania fourth for children’s healthcare because the state showed strong access to pediatric care and low infant death rates as the study used 33 indicators to compare 50 states+DC.  Daily Voice
