COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Five kids in Lancaster County rescued 10 ducklings stuck in a storm drain near Everence Bank in Ephrata on Tuesday; the bank alerted firefighters & the Lincoln Fire Department reunited the ducklings with their mother to ensure they continued safely. WGAL
- ➤ Motorized vehicles (including e-bikes, scooters, and ATVs) are banned from township and borough ballparks in Lancaster County this summer, with police in East Donegal and Conoy townships and Marietta Borough enforcing the rule to keep parks safe; the restriction does not apply to the Northwest River Trail. - ➤ Lancaster's 9 Collective is marking its second year by running a community garden that supplies fresh produce to local food pantries through a partnership with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and Penn State Extension Master Gardeners (826 pounds contributed last year). Volunteers and donations help expand its sustainable efforts. WGAL
- ➤ Donations are being collected at West Hempfield Fire & Rescue for 93 animals rescued last week from a filthy home in West Hempfield Township; dogs, puppies, cats, and rabbits are now at PSPCA shelters receiving care, and supplies along with funds are needed until May 2. WGAL
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Traffic slowed on Route 30 eastbound after a crash occurred near the Centerville Road exit in East Hempfield Township at 8 a.m. Tuesday + drivers used the right shoulder as delays stretched past the Prospect Road exit. WGAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Police in Springettsbury Township said residents of a local encampment on private property must leave by May 9 after nuisance calls prompted the property owner to request its removal. The department enlisted Friends and Neighbors of Pennsylvania (a local nonprofit) to help offer support during the move. WGAL
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital planted 505 blue pinwheels to honor children treated at its Center for the Protection of Children while Lancaster County Children’s Alliance explained key abuse signs and prevention tips today in Lancaster.
