- ➤ A report by the Lancaster County Homelessness Coalition shows 665 people experienced homelessness in 2026, a 22% increase from last year and the highest since 2009; local shelters face funding shortages forcing a day shelter to close & highlighting a need for more affordable housing. FOX43

- ➤ A historic barn from the 1800s in Lancaster County will be moved and reconstructed due to changes in land use; the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County and the Manheim Township Historical Society are working to identify a new permanent site for the Hoober Eby Barn. WGAL
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices across Pennsylvania reached their highest this year, with AAA reporting an average of $4.33 per gallon for regular gas on Thursday — a 22-cent rise from last week that is affecting many drivers’ travel plans. FOX43

- ➤ Valhallan Esports Training will open its youth esports arena on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1619 Manheim Pike (offering supervised play, team competitions and coaching for players aged 7 to 17). FOX43
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Lancaster City Bureau of Police is accepting applications by midnight from adults ages 18 to 20 (Lancaster students receive preference) for its cadet program. Selected cadets will work 15 to 19 hours a week and assist local officers with calls for vandalism, theft, parking and traffic issues. Local 21 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bayer is recalling 786,100 Afrin Original Nasal Spray 6 mL bottles after officials found the packaging is not child-resistant. The sprays sold at convenience stores and travel hubs from Sept. 2024 through April 2026 must be kept away from children and returned for a refund (announced April 30, 3:28 p.m.). Daily Voice
- ➤ Thermos announced a recall on April 30 of its Stainless King Food Jars & Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles after reports of stoppers ejecting dangerously and causing injuries, including permanent vision loss.
