COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Around 400 local truckers joined the annual Mother’s Day Truck Convoy held at Manheim Auto Auction in Penn Township to raise funds for Make-A-Wish. Former recipients and volunteers shared their stories as the event raised about $335,000 by Saturday evening (with a $575,000 target) and will continue fundraising through May.  PennLive
  • Stores at Tanger Outlets evacuated Monday morning after a reported gas leak — Lafayette Fire Company investigated the incident at the 300 block of Stanley K. Tanger Blvd and Lincoln Hwy E in East Lampeter Township with no road closures reported.  WGAL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Haunted attractions must have child safety plans before hiring minors, so Field of Screams in Mountville held its Halfway to Halloween event with adult actors only (the attraction is updating its safety protocols for fall events) as owner Jim Schopf confirmed state compliance.  WGAL
  • The 34th Annual FallFest Country Music Festival will return to Overlook Park on Oct. 4 — headlined by Tyler Hubbard and Nate Smith with supporting acts for a full day of music. General admission starts at $25 with limited VIP seating.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After a teen was found with a gun at Park City Center and other recent incidents affected local youth, CeaseFirePA is urging lawmakers to enforce secure firearm storage laws and will host an Advocacy Day at the Capitol on June 2 (for Gun Violence Prevention Month).  WGAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • During Women's Health Month, UPMC's Dr. Sharee Livingston said local women are increasingly discussing perimenopause and menopause, noting that symptoms (head to toe) can include brain fog and sleep issues. Ephrata resident Kristalene Bautista began hormone testing after noticing early signs, prompting doctors to encourage open dialogue and timely treatment.  WGAL

  • Last week, the first World of Outlaws vs. Pa. Posse races of 2026 showcased a deep rivalry in sprint car racing across central Pennsylvania — offering fans rare access to drivers and pit areas.
