  • The Mountville Days Carnival began Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Event Grounds of Corn Cob Acres to raise funds for the Mountville Fire Company and will run through Saturday rain or shine. Proceeds cover 15% of the fire company's budget, helping pay for fuel, equipment, and safety gear—while eight local food trucks and rides offer fun for all.  WGAL
  • Neighbors on Junction Road in East Hempfield Township said speeding vehicles have repeatedly damaged property and caused loud noise that disrupts their lives. Local officials & community members are reviewing traffic data and looking for safety improvements while the question of jurisdiction remains unresolved.  Local 21 News

  • Lancaster County Sheriffs warned residents to be alert for scam calls from people impersonating deputies+ these fraudsters use real names and altered voices while the office never calls to demand money for fines or fees, and residents are advised to report such calls to local police.  Local 21 News
  • On April 30th, motorcyclist Benny Rivera said an off-duty Manheim Township police chief pulled his gun and shook him near the plaza off Fruitville Pike in Lancaster County — surveillance video shows the incident, charges were later dropped, and Rivera is considering further legal action.  WGAL

ECONOMY NEWS

  • KettleWorks— the new 167,000 square foot facility—opened Wednesday at 425 Ben Franklin Blvd in East Lampeter Township inside the Greenfield business park. The project cost $19.1M, received state support for worker training, began with about 60 employees, and will eventually create 149 jobs for bone broth maker Kettle & Fire.  PennLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lancaster City Council introduced a resolution Tuesday in support of state legislation to raise the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour and to end wage preemption—which stops local governments from setting their own rates. State lawmakers and labor groups back proposals for a $15 rate with cost-of-living adjustments while business groups express concern over potential impacts on local businesses.  WGAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • A boil water advisory has been in effect in parts of Lancaster County since May 12 at 3:45 p.m. after a water main break affected residences on Pitney Road (8, 10, 32, 40, 50, 52, 54, 58, 72 and 74) and on Lincoln Highway East (1525 and 1603); the City urges residents to boil water for one minute before use as it works to resolve the issue — tests will confirm when the water is safe.  FOX43
