- ➤ A trailer outside a USPS distribution center in Delaware held 12,000 live birds from Freedom Ranger Hatchery in West Cocalico Township in 130-degree heat for three-and-a-half days, which resulted in about 4,000 deaths. The Postal Service is investigating the mishandling while the hatchery works to secure compensation—raising many questions over the error. PennLive
- ➤ Governor Shapiro today announced that the state will invest over $4 million in Kettle and Fire’s new 167,000 square foot manufacturing facility at 425 Ben Franklin Boulevard, which is expected to add at least 149 good-paying jobs and boost more than $19.1 million to the local economy. DCED Secretary Rick Siger cut the ribbon at the plant — which uses advanced food production systems to support the company’s growing product line. WDAC

- ➤ On April 30, Manheim Township police Chief Duane Fisher, off duty, pulled a gun on a motorcyclist near Fruitville Pike and was placed on paid administrative leave while an internal investigation continues—surveillance video captured the tense encounter that led the motorcyclist to flee. WGAL
- ➤ A Lancaster man allegedly stole a 2023 Mercedes Benz C300 from the Manheim Auto Auction on Lancaster Road, drove it on Route 30 near Walnut Street until it crashed and then fled from officers before he was arrested just after 5 p.m.—he now faces charges including robbery, theft, criminal trespass, flight to avoid apprehension and recklessly endangering with a preliminary hearing set for May 27. - ➤ Charles Henry Mitchell IV from Conoy Township was charged with murder, homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence, and two traffic offenses after he fatally crashed into 55-year-old Elena Murariu near the Turnpike and Bossler roads in West Donegal Township on April 30 just before 5:30 p.m.—he deleted a Snapchat video showing him driving 111 mph, bail was set at $900,000 and he is now held in Lancaster County Prison.
