COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Adamstown Community Days began Friday evening with rides, food, live music + entertainment. Organizers plan a fireworks display at 10 p.m. Saturday and will debut Cocalico Days on Sunday with activities to raise money for local scholarships.  WGAL
  • Accomplished athlete Loretta Claiborne has announced her upcoming book, 'The Finish Line is Just the Beginning,' which adds author to her long list of achievements. The York native, known for her rigorous workouts at the Arthur J Glatfelter YMCA, will release it next year.  FOX43
  • A Lancaster family has launched the Live Like Kole campaign to honor their son after his Jan. 25 passing from brain cancer. The campaign sells merchandise and raises money for research (supporting those facing similar challenges) while inspiring kindness in the community.  Local 21 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The African American Cultural Fair returned to Reservoir Park yesterday for its 12th year celebrating local culture and continues today. Friday’s Apollo-style talent showcase took place, and a drill team, drumline, and dance competition will run at 3 p.m. today (parade cancelled).  WGAL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Graduation season is underway in the Susquehanna Valley as schools celebrate the Class of 2026 with ceremonies scheduled from May 15 through June 14. Lancaster events today include multiple commencements at local schools & offer families a chance to honor students.  WGAL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The latest Drought Monitor released Thursday, May 28 shows improvement in central Penn—areas including Lancaster are still dry, and more steady rain is needed to overcome the monthly rainfall deficit.  WGAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Lancaster County resident tested positive for measles after visiting a local store and may have exposed others, health officials confirmed (the Pennsylvania Department of Health advised anyone showing symptoms to seek care).  Local 21 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Construction is underway at Mi-Place at Rockvale in East Lampeter Township (with four four-story residential buildings set to include 32 apartments each) as leasing is expected to begin late 2026 and move-ins in spring 2027.  PennLive
