COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lititz Chooses Love changed its name to Lancaster County Chooses Love to show that its services now reach more local people through events like karaoke nights, volunteer work and workshops. The group moved into a larger building on East Main Street in Lititz—right next to a bus stop—to offer easier access to its services.  WGAL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, cows broke out from an Amish farm in Lititz after being spooked, stampeding through a couple's backyard on Church Road near Village Drive at around 4:40 p.m.—the farm owner quickly recovered the animals with help from a local resident, and no injuries or damage were reported.  Local 21 News

CRIME NEWS

  • A 44-year-old woman—Tonya Snyder—was charged with stealing $1,700 from a money box at Ephrata Food Mart early in May; she was arrested on May 31 and is held at Lancaster County Prison.  Local 21 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jewish families gather today at Rohr Chabad in Lancaster to hear a Torah reading from a handwritten scroll that marks Shavuot and the giving of the Ten Commandments. After the reading, they will enjoy a dairy buffet with cheesecake and desserts — and a Yizkor memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3.  FOX43

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Elizabethtown School Board approved an $82.1 million budget on May 27 with a 2.5% tax raise and cut library book funding for middle and high schools using $1.5 million from savings to balance the budget — some residents, led by Judi Grove of the Freedom Readers group, protested the decision. The board also eliminated nine vacant positions amid concerns tied to upcoming teacher contracts.  FOX43

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dave Stroud, a stroke survivor who recovered at Methodist Hospital after three strokes in 2021, now volunteers by building therapy devices to help fellow patients improve fine motor skills. He attends weekly Stroke Chat sessions—where survivors share support—to inspire others.  WGAL
