ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, two Lancaster police cars crashed at the intersection of East Chestnut Street and North Lime Street when a fallen pole hit one vehicle—three people were taken to the hospital.  Local 21 News
  • Two police cruisers collided near Chestnut and Lime streets while responding to a burglary call and one officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries — a traffic signal and telephone pole were also damaged and investigators stated speed does not appear to be a factor.  Daily Voice

CRIME NEWS

  • An Adams County judge sentenced a 70-year-old Lancaster County man to 4 to 10 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter after his wife’s 1984 disappearance from their Pequea Township home—prosecutors showed all evidence pointed to his guilt and her body was never found.  WDAC
  • A man was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after shots were fired into a Lancaster city residence on Hilton Street at 2:45 a.m.—police said the suspects are still unidentified and the investigation is ongoing.  Local 21 News
  • A Lancaster County man, Benito Santiago, 33, was arrested after assaulting a woman at the Dutchland Motel on Lititz Pike in Manheim Township on June 8—police said he punched her, threatened her with a loaded gun and a 10-inch-blade knife, and left drug paraphernalia at the scene while the victim received treatment at Lancaster General Hospital.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pennsylvania’s fireworks law for July 4 allows consumer fireworks until 1 a.m. on July 2, 3 and 4 (if July 4 falls on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, fireworks may be set off until 1 a.m. on the preceding Friday and following Saturday). The law bans discharging fireworks on private property without permission (they must not be ignited within 150 feet of any building or vehicle).  WGAL
