- ➤ A laundry room fire started nearly 5:30 p.m. Saturday at East Residence Hall Circle and Centennial Drive at Millersville University, sending smoke through a wing of the East Village Dorms and prompting fire crews to check the attic (Blue Rock Fire Department) while no injuries or damage were reported and the cause remains under investigation. - ➤ Victoria Vespico, 25, of Shavertown was crowned Miss Pennsylvania 2025 on June 21 at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York — she tap danced to 'Fiddle Faddle' and promoted a sustainability initiative. For winning, she received a $12,000 scholarship and will represent the state at Miss America in Orlando while first runner-up Christina Herman of Lancaster earned a $5,500 scholarship and additional awards. - ➤ Over the weekend, the Fire Police Association held training classes at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center, with a Basic Fire Police Operations class on Saturday and an Advanced class on Sunday—classes that help volunteers manage traffic in emergencies.
