ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One person died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 283 East at Strickler Road in Rapho Township (vehicle struck a bridge and caught fire just after 3 a.m.) as the roadway reopened (Manheim Borough Police are investigating). WGAL
- ➤ On July 4, Garden Spot Fire Rescue responded to a fire at Overly's Grove park that started when improperly disposed fireworks in a blue plastic trash barrel near a building ignited—crews quickly put out the fire before the building was damaged. WGAL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police arrested Harry Thomas after he barricaded himself in his home (500 block of Hand Avenue) following his attempted knife attack on another man (600 block of North Plum Street) at 9:30 a.m. Saturday; a woman and child in the house were unharmed, and he now faces charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and resisting arrest. - ➤ A Lancaster man—Jovan Anthony Martin, 33—pleaded guilty in April to dealing methamphetamine and illegally possessing two handguns, one stolen, after police found 185 grams of meth at his East Orange Street home; he was sentenced to serve 7.5 to 27 years in prison. FOX43
- ➤ Police are handling an active incident on the 600 block of North Plum Street in Lancaster and urge residents to avoid the area. WGAL
- ➤ Police in Lancaster investigated a shooting that occurred Saturday evening when officers responded at around 5:22 p.m. to a reported incident in the 500 block of S. Christian St.—one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital while no suspects have been identified. Local 21 News
