CRIME NEWS

  • Lancaster County police are looking for a man who robbed a Dollar General in East Hempfield Township on July 13 at 9:50 p.m. He was seen wearing (white hoodie, sunglasses, black mask, latex gloves, dark sweat pants) when he took cash and fled on foot.  WDAC
  • Christiana Borough Police said that two male suspects broke into the Christiana Fire Company on South Bridge Street on June 12 and stole jaws of life valued at over $50,000—officials offered a $1,000 reward for tips.  Local 21 News
  • Lancaster police arrested three suspects after gunfire broke out on the first block of Prospect Street at 2:41 a.m. on July 13—an executed search warrant at a nearby residence turned up two stolen handguns that led to the arrest of 36‐year‐old Keenan Emil Woods and to additional charges against two others—and the investigation is still ongoing.  Daily Voice

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Weeks of wet weather in Lancaster flooded fields and left farmers worried about crop diseases on wheat, corn and vegetables. Jeffrey Graybill from Penn State said saturated conditions could cut yields — even a 10% loss may impact local pretzel production.  WGAL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Monday's heavy rain—more than 7.5 inches in Mount Joy—damaged the historic Grider Family Cemetery on the 4000 block of Marietta Avenue near High Ridge Road, where tombstones were undermined and the soil carved, scattering asphalt and stones near a Lancaster County Historical Society marker.  WGAL
  • Floodwaters tossed picnic tables, branches and a tree trunk onto the pavilion at Little Chiques Park in Mount Joy on Tuesday morning after more than half a foot of rain fell in a few hours across the Susquehanna Valley. WGAL reported flooding in nearby areas, and more rain is expected—continuing to pose risks across the region.  WGAL
