ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out in a duplex (on the first block of Cinder Road in Providence Township) around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, displacing four adults and six children as the Quarryville Fire Department and mutual aid teams responded (with the Red Cross assisting those affected). Local 21 News
- ➤ Firefighters responded to a building fire on the 100 block of Furnace Road in Bart Township around 2 a.m.—fire police directed traffic and no injuries were reported while officials investigated the cause. WGAL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lancaster City police reported that two separate shootings on Saturday morning—in the 500 block of South Pearl Street and in the 600 block of Saint Joseph Street—left a man and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries and are investigating both incidents. WGAL
- ➤ A Lancaster man, 38 year old Francisco Rodriguez, is scheduled to stand trial on charges including arson of a historic resource, intentional desecration and flag mutilation after he allegedly tried to set fire to the Soldiers and Sailors monument on July 19—videos and eyewitness accounts show he climbed a fence and placed a plastic bag on a statue while attempting to burn two American flags. - ➤ Protesters gathered Saturday at the Home2 Suites in Lancaster to rally against ICE after border patrol vehicles were spotted near the hotel—two marked cars rolled into the parking lot amid shouts of 'Shame!' Organizers from Solidarity Lancaster said ICE tactics have hurt families and linked the patrol sightings to a recent recruitment event at Spooky Nook. Local 21 News
