- ➤ Officials at Lititz Springs Park announced that most large events in 2026 will not occur due to planned renovations to improve walkways, drainage, and bare grass—though the annual 4th of July Celebration will continue. Park officials said the project will help preserve the park’s charm and allow smaller events like Farmers Market and Christmas in the Park to remain scheduled. FOX43

- ➤ The County Commissioners Association warned that without a state budget, counties may have to raise taxes and cut services and sent a letter to Gov. Josh Shapiro and lawmakers criticizing the commonwealth for missing a dozen deadlines in 25 years—citing the 2015 crisis as a harsh reminder. WGAL
- ➤ The Route 741 bridge in Lancaster County is expected to reopen today—after nearly three months of closure for steel and deck repairs. PennDOT said crews began these repairs in June in Lancaster and Pequea townships. WGAL

- ➤ Wakefield EMS reduced emergency response times in southern Lancaster County by hiring four full-time paramedics—available 24/7 to give quick, lifesaving care—, Lt. August Prince said. He explained that wait times dropped from 15 to 25 minutes to just a few minutes and that rural patients now get help faster when the nearest hospital is over 30 minutes away. WGAL
- ➤ Federal officials said on Aug. 22 that California-based Southwind Foods recalled frozen shrimp sold under brands Sand Bar+ Arctic Shores+ Best Yet+ Great American+ First Street due to possible Cesium-137 contamination. The products, distributed from July 17 to Aug. 8 in nine states including Pennsylvania, should not be eaten, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned. WGAL
