ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A trailer hauling lime flipped over on New Holland Road in Earl Township Monday morning — police directed traffic while Garden Spot Fire Rescue said the road between Hill Road and Lower Road will stay closed for an extended period.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Sen. James Malone announced more than $2 million in broadband funding that will soon improve high-speed internet access in his district north of Lancaster—stretching from Elizabethtown to Ephrata. Companies including Amazon, Brightspeed, Comcast, Verizon, and SpaceX will match the investments by installing fiber and satellite services.  WGAL
  • Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday joined 44 other AGs in a letter to tech companies such as Apple—asking for stronger safeguards to protect children from harmful AI chatbot interactions that expose them to explicit content and risky conversations. The letter names companies like Meta, Google, Microsoft, Open AI, and Replika and calls for a review of their policies to prevent kids from being used in unsafe experiments.  WGAL
  • Gov. Shapiro urged state lawmakers to end the nearly 56-day overdue budget impasse as missed payments affect schools and transit in 67 counties — he stressed that tough compromises are needed to invest in the good people of Pennsylvania.  WGAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • Residents in Lancaster City are under a boil water advisory after a water main broke—mostly affecting addresses on North Duke Street and one on East Liberty Street. They must boil water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth until the city provides further instructions.  WGAL
