CULTURE NEWS

  • Jewish leaders invite everyone to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with no-cost high holiday services at Rohr Chabad of Lancaster—featuring traditional melodies, sermons, bilingual prayers, and symbolic foods. The two-day celebration began Monday night—continuing today with a 10 a.m. service and a Shofar ceremony at 2 p.m.  FOX43

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three south-central PA schools in Lancaster, York and Cumberland counties were named as Pa. Blue Ribbon Schools by state officials for high academic performance and closing the achievement gap—Highland Elementary, Wrightsville Elementary and James Burd Elementary will be honored at a ceremony in December.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Voters must register by Oct. 20 ahead of the Nov. 4 municipal election and meet requirements such as 30 days of residency—unsure voters can check and update their status online via PA Voter Services.  WGAL
  • Gov. Josh Shapiro has called for lawmakers' help to pass an overdue state budget—leaving the YWCA Victims Services Department in York without funds for essential operations for domestic violence and sexual assault victims.  WGAL

SPORTS NEWS

  • Despite a soggy night, the York Revolution swept the Lancaster Stormers 6-3 at Penn Medicine Park to advance to the Atlantic League Championship Series. Yeison Coca’s RBI double gave the Stormers an early 2-0 lead before Kyle Martin’s home run tied the score in the sixth and Elvis Peralta’s run in the eighth clinched the win—showing the Revolution’s championship drive.  WGAL
