COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the Just Between Friends consignment pop-up event is underway at Spooky Nook LANCO in East Petersburg—families can save up to 90 percent on new and gently used items and sell extra goods for cash; the event began Sept. 25 and will continue through Sept. 27.  FOX43

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Iron Hill Brewery closed abruptly yesterday because of money problems, leaving workers without jobs—local businesses offered help with discounts and new work opportunities.  WGAL
  • Google and Comcast are negotiating a renewal of the carriage agreement for all channels on YouTubeTV, and WGAL's future depends on a successful deal — if the companies fail to agree by September 30, WGAL will be removed. WGAL and its parent Hearst are not part of the discussions.  WGAL

CRIME NEWS

  • Community members in the Susquehanna Valley are raising funds to support families of three police officers killed and two injured in an ambush at a North Codorus Township Farm on Sept. 17 after a funeral for the fallen was held on Sept. 25 and local businesses sold special T-shirts—Rutter’s convenience stores also donated half their proceeds and donations can be made online via the endorsed portal.  WGAL

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Ephrata Fair in Ephrata is drawing crowds with thrilling rides and live music—attendees enjoy the event despite earlier rain. Friends Sebastian Rios and William Peters said the fair feels like coming home as it runs until Sept. 27.  WGAL

  • The Justice Department filed lawsuits against six states, including Pennsylvania, on Sept 25 for not providing voter registration records — officials said clean voter rolls are key to free and fair elections.  Daily Voice
