- ➤ Lancaster County police and firefighters will skate Saturday at Lancaster Ice Rink at 2:15 p.m.—the 2nd Annual Battle of the Badges charity hockey game will raise funds for The Yard Foundation to support first responders and their families—and honor fallen officers from Northern York County Regional Police Department. - ➤ Joseph (Joey) Williams, a 17-year-old senior at Donegal High School, died in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Landis Road in East Donegal Township just after 3 a.m. Sunday as Donegal School District provided crisis support for students. FOX43
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Oct 8, over 100 students from JP McCaskey High School walked out to protest a stalled state budget that has delayed school funding & programs. Student organizer Thomas McCoy said the protest shows that lawmakers must act soon to keep vital educational activities running. WGAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lancaster County officials are getting ready for the Nov. 4 municipal election and remind voters to register by Oct. 20 and apply for a mail-in ballot by Oct. 28—Commissioner Ray D’Agostino said staff and volunteers are ready for voting. The election will include a mayoral race with candidates like Jamie Arroyo, Woody Chandler and Tony Dastra along with school board and city council contests that will affect daily life. FOX43
- ➤ Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday advised consumers who bought unused Iron Hill Brewery gift cards with their credit cards to dispute the charges and file a complaint with the Bureau of Consumer Protection—his office said it is closely tracking developments. He did not offer guidance for those who purchased using cash after the brewery’s abrupt closure and Chapter 7 filing. WGAL
