COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Water Street Mission is launching its 2025 Rescue Mission Food Drive today to collect 80,000 pounds of non-perishable food as SNAP benefits will end in November, affecting 55,000 people. The drive will run through December 23 and help support its outreach center while serving nearly 27,000 hot meals over the holiday season. WGAL
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Microsoft reported an outage that affected its Azure cloud portal—impacting Office 365, Minecraft, Xbox Live, Costco, and Starbucks—and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry confirmed that some commonwealth online services are temporarily down while officials work to restore full functionality. - ➤ A WARN notice shows that Peraton Inc. in Cumberland County will soon lay off 153 workers at its corporate office on Camp Hill Bypass in East Pennsboro Township effective December 13th — nearly 100 more jobs will be cut at another Virginia office. In Lancaster County, Morgan Truck Body will close its manufacturing facility in Ephrata and let go of 92 workers from its Wenger Drive plant on December 15th. WGAL

- ➤ The Rocky Springs Carousel animals, stored for 26 years, are now on display in Lancaster as they prepare for a future ride at Strasburg’s Choo Choo Barn. The gallery will open on November 7 at 12:00 p.m. at 118 N. Water St. (Suite 105) to share this nostalgic piece of history with local residents. WGAL

- ➤ Flights at PA airports were delayed on Oct. 29—caused by Hurricane Melissa and a government shutdown that left air traffic controllers unpaid. Officials warned that further travel disruptions will occur as staffing shortages and heavy weather continue. Daily Voice
