  • East Fairview Church in Lancaster County held a security seminar after receiving a $150,000 federal grant to boost safety amid rising threats—over 30 local congregations joined the alliance to learn emergency plans and threat detection techniques.  FOX43
  • Strasburg held its annual Halloween parade hosted by the Strasburg Lions Club, featuring costumes such as Dorothy, Michael Myers, and Spider-Man and even unexpected guests like a cow and a pig. Pack 19 (a local cub group active for decades) tossed candy from floats (with mad scientist displays added by its leader’s wife) as trick-or-treaters grabbed treats eagerly.  WGAL

  • A Lancaster County family said their 7-year-old son Sirus Miklos was harassed at his school bus stop because boarding his wheelchair-accessible bus takes extra time—community support and a police escort ride have followed while his parents urge impatient drivers to choose alternate routes.  Local 21 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health insurance shoppers will start enrolling Saturday and are warned that premium costs could jump 20% on average—even more for some plans—as tax credits may expire amid a federal shutdown and deep cuts in navigator funding. Lancaster-based agent Joshua Brooker advised consumers to complete their tax credit application (a key first step) before picking a plan for 2026.  WGAL

  • The Lancaster Stormers announced on Thursday that they were sold to Prospector Baseball Group — a team led by John Abbamondi that plans to add new food choices and smart ticketing to improve the fan experience while keeping the traditions local fans love.
