ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Repair work is underway on Neff's Mill Covered Bridge after a box truck hit it in the spring when the driver ignored posted no trucks signage, with West Lampeter Township police reporting the incident and Lancaster County commissioners approving a $138,000 repair contract with timber farmers to finish work by the end of the year—preserving a historic bridge built in the 1800s—while it remains one of about 20 covered bridges in the county.  WGAL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, independent colleges are honoring service members by boosting GI Bill support + expanding Yellow Ribbon aid to help nearly 6,000 veterans earn degrees. Franklin & Marshall in Lancaster doubled its Yellow Ribbon slots to offer a $10,000 scholarship while AICUP will further expand programs for veterans and military families.  FOX43

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lancaster County service organizations are teaming up to help SNAP recipients meet a 20-hour weekly work requirement so they can keep their benefits—nearly 30,000 residents rely on the program amid rising food insecurity. The Workforce Development Board and Community Action Partnership document work and volunteer hours to ensure that residents continue receiving assistance.  WGAL

  • Susquehanna Township beat the Central Penn Crusaders 26-6 in the CFA National Conference Peewee Championship as the Tribe finished a perfect 13-0 season—Liam Ransom made two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown to seal the win.  PennLive
  • The Central Penn Crusaders won the CFA National Conference Midget Football Championship by beating Susquehanna Township 12-0, with quarterback Kamar Iberedem leading the offense. His play earned him Super Bowl MVP honors—helping his team reverse an earlier tight matchup.  PennLive
