  • A Strasburg family asked nearby drivers to be patient because their seven-year-old disabled son takes extra time getting on the bus every morning—neighbors and a local business showed support with free rides and cheers along his route. The parents urge drivers to treat his bus stop like a family moment so he starts his day with a smile.  WGAL
  • The Lancaster County Food Hub is serving record numbers of local families with food, clothing and a new outreach center for unsheltered neighbors. Staff say it saw more than double visitor numbers in 2024 (and they expect to help even more families this year).  FOX43

CULTURE NEWS

  • Holiday Inn is a feel-good musical that has opened at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in East Hempfield Township—starring Fiona Mowbray as Linda Mason and Connor Rasposa as Jim Hardy—combining small-town charm with the sparkle of Irving Berlin tunes to celebrate the season. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Elizabethtown School Board said the high school/middle school building is severely damaged and needs major repairs—feasibility studies show that the septic system, roof, and HVAC must be fixed, though tests confirm the air is safe.   • The Lancaster Conservancy has acquired 180 acres in York County for the new Eagle View Nature Preserve — the land lies along the Mason-Dixon Trail and will remain closed until master planning is completed.  PennLive
  • WGAL News 8 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Christine Ferreira forecasts winter with near average to slightly below average temperatures and 15 to 25 inches of snow in South-Central Pennsylvania. She explained that December will be colder and snowier—January near average and February warmer with fewer snow chances—due to a weakening La Niña and a strongly negative PDO.  WGAL
