Good morning, Lancaster.

Extra Give ended last night at the downtown Lancaster convention center where over 23,000 donors from more than 400 nonprofits raised more than $10 million—finally reaching $10,392,335.

The epic dance party marked the close of the community donation day.

Grocery stores in Lancaster and across the Northeast sold frozen whole turkeys for less than $1 per pound last Thanksgiving—despite a 75% rise in wholesale prices—which helped cut the average holiday dinner cost by 5% even as some side dish prices rose.

This loss leader pricing aimed to attract shoppers to other higher-margin purchases.

Farmers in Lancaster County saw turkey prices at Leg Up Farmers Market rise about 10% because bird flu affected nearly 50,000 local birds—yet the market is keeping prices steady so families can prepare for Thanksgiving dinner.

Tonight, clear skies will bring lows in the low 30s—today the region enjoys sunny, mild weather with highs in the low 50s thanks to high pressure building in.

Tuesday and Wednesday will see scattered showers as a cold front moves in, and Thanksgiving travel days are expected to be blustery and chilly with highs falling to the 40s.
