COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Lancaster Snow Angels, a volunteer group started by Jennifer Jarvis in 2020, has provided free snow removal for veterans, the elderly, and special needs residents in Lancaster County and served more than 170 clients this winter. The nonprofit—now in its sixth season with 30 to 40 volunteers—has launched three community raffles to support local nonprofits and help cover costs like salt, shovels, and snowblower maintenance.  WGAL
  • WGAL News 8 will shine a spotlight on 25 Nights of Lights, a series of dazzling holiday displays airing at 11 p.m. every night until Christmas Eve across south-central Pennsylvania — viewers can also explore an online interactive map to see each display as it airs —.  WGAL
  • Discover Lancaster launched the Host Awards to honor local hospitality workers as businesses invite nominations until Jan. 15 — the awards recognize roles such as baristas and servers — and a celebration for winners is planned on March 2. The awards aim to boost exceptional customer service and tourism across Lancaster County.  WGAL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A top-prize Cash Kingdom Fast Play ticket worth $567,992 was sold on Nov. 26 at the 7‑Eleven on North Reading Road in East Cocalico Township—earning the store a $5,000 bonus. Lottery players can check tickets by scanning or using the official app—and prizes over $5,000 must be claimed within one year.  WGAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PennDOT announced temporary speed limit reductions are in effect on major highways—drivers in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties must travel at 45 mph as snow and ice create hazardous road conditions. Crews are treating the roads and urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel while keeping safe distances from plow trucks.  Daily Voice

  • Beginning with the 2026 Championship Season, all games for the York Revolution and Lancaster Stormers will stream live and on-demand via HomeTeam Network.
