- ➤ Lancaster's annual Red Rose Drop will be held at Penn Medicine Park on Dec. 31 from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., featuring a kids party from 8 to 10 p.m. and an 18+ dance before fireworks at midnight. FOX43
- ➤ An anonymous donor dropped an 1898 gold coin into the Salvation Army kettle at Lancaster Central Market over the weekend, and volunteers discovered it Monday; the coin ($3,500-$4,500) will be appraised and sold to support the Red Kettle Campaign serving local families in need. PennLive
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday morning, a mobile home became stuck in the mud on the 500 block of Byerland Church Road when the homeowner tried to move it, and Pequea Township Police later removed the home using additional equipment (no injuries were reported). Local 21 News
- ➤ A water main break has closed the 200 block of Route 501 in downtown Lititz (North Broad Street) as crews work to locate and repair the break amid detours. WGAL
- ➤ Several crashes slowed traffic yesterday in South-Central Pennsylvania as light snow and rain affected commuters, with a disabled tractor trailer blocking southbound lanes on the Harvey Taylor Bridge bypass in Wormleysburg and minor collisions reported on roads in Lancaster County. WGAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new U.S. State Department rule will end passport service programs at non-governmental locations, with Elizabethtown Public Library offering the service until the end of January. Lawmakers (hoping to extend the service) are working to help residents avoid long drives for passport applications. FOX43
- ➤ Amtrak has rejected AmeriStarRail’s proposal for a coast-to-coast train route that would have stopped in Harrisburg and other Pennsylvania communities. AmeriStarRail now plans to work with Congress and transportation officials to bring Amtrak back to negotiations, aiming for a 2028 launch timed with the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. FOX43

- ➤ The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Plantimex Distributors is recalling Mamisan Pain Relieving Topical Ointment because its container lacks child resistant packaging, which could put children at risk.
